Canon U.S.A. Responds To Customer Demand With New PRISMAsync Color Print Server V4.1

New Platform for Color imagePRESS Series Designed to Help Boost Productivity, Reduce Downtime and Delay

MELVILLE, N.Y. - Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the PRISMAsync Color Print Server V4.1 platform for the imagePRESS C800/C700 and imagePRESS C7011VPS Series digital presses, as well as the new imagePRESS C10000VP digital color production press, including customer defined functionality designed to maximize the productivity of imagePRESS engines. A critical piece of this update is the In-RIP G7® calibration method, which is a fast and easy way to perform G7 calibration, an emerging new standard that is becoming critically important to commercial printers. Canon is among the first to provide customers with this important functionality.

Exciting new functionality in the PRISMAsync Color Print Server V4.1 platform includes new and enhanced media management features, including media search, filtering, and creation, allowing for an enhanced and easier customer experience than with prior versions. New color management and print quality-related features such as an embedded profiler feature allow the operator to create individual ICC color profiles for a media family, using the PRISMAsync and any spectrophotometer.

"The PRISMAsync Color Print Server V4.1 was developed using real-world feedback from our customers who depend on our products every day," said Junichi Yoshitake, senior vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. "This new version is designed to help enhance productivity and allow creativity in ways we know our customers want, because they asked for it."

The platform combines support for a current industry standard, Personalized Print Markup Language (PPML), including "thick" PPML versions 1.5, 2.1 and 2.2. It also looks to the future, supporting PDF VT1 as an emerging technology. Security feature enhancements to the platform include an Integrity Checker and other extended security features such as user password encryption, as well as authorization for viewing key operator settings in the Settings Editor.

Prior versions of the PRISMAsync platform are already in wide use in the market in commercial print establishments as well as corporate in-plants and franchised print service providers.

Al Carrero, founder and owner of Hudson Printing, said "With the implementation of PRISMAsync and PRISMA Remote management software, we have been capable of driving more work on behalf of our customers in half of the time, with fewer people. Through the combination of these PRISMA technologies, what once required a two shift operation can be done in a single shift permitting us to be more responsive and providing better service to our customers."

Dave Allen, general manager/owner Executive Press in Richardson, TX, said, "With the PRISMAprepare solution and PRISMAsync controllers, our pre-press activities are streamlined. This eliminates steps in our workflow, helping to reduce turnaround times and increase productivity. Everything is about time in this industry. Paper costs the same to everybody, toner costs the same to everybody. The only place you can make a difference in this industry is time. The combination of PRISMAsync and PRISMAprepare has given us this time."
