Canon U.S.A. Announces New imagePROGRAF iPF850/840/830 Large Format Printers

MELVILLE, N.Y., July 20, 2015 - Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the launch of three new 44-inch, high volume, large format inkjet printers. The Canon imagePROGRAF iPF850, iPF840 and iPF830 models, also available as multi-function devices, are each designed to bring reliable, affordable and precise printing to architecture, engineering and construction (AEC), and Computer Aided Design (CAD) markets. Great for medium to large workgroups, the five-color technical document printers feature 15,360 nozzles for intricate full-color renderings, technical drawings and maps.

In addition to a two media roll system, featured in both the imagePROGRAF iPF850 and imagePROGRAF iPF840, the imagePROGRAF iPF850 model features a high-capacity stacker that can hold up-to-100 sheets of different sized paper (up to A0). Designed for a time-saving, user-friendly experience, the stacker neatly gathers newly printed documents to help prevent paper curling and allow users to quickly collect their newly printed documents.

"Overall, the imagePROGRAF iPF850 has a great design, providing a definite time saver when doing large sets of prints," said Nate Herman, professional engineer at Sathre-Bergquist, Inc. "It is very quick and easy to pull the stacker out when changing paper and it rolls back into place effortlessly with no need to worry about making sure it is aligned. Prints stack perfectly well and can be taken right off the stacker and stapled which saves a tremendous amount of time."

"In today's business environment, companies require the proper tools to help conserve costs and time without compromising quality," said Junichi Yoshitake, senior vice president and general manager, of Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. "With an upgraded system to help improve productivity and ink tanks designed for better efficiency, these new imagePROGRAF large format printers can help professionals to quickly and cost-effectively achieve precise technical documents."

Productivity-Enhancing Features

A steadfast companion for medium to large workgroups, the new devices boast several design features to help workgroups improve workflow efficiency and save time. The two media roll system featured in the imagePROGRAF iPF840 and iPF850 models, promotes more uptime by enabling automatic paper switching between rolls to allow for continuous, uninterrupted high-production printing without the need for user intervention. Additionally, the two roll support feature further enhances output efficiency by simultaneously handling different types and varying widths of paper up to 44 inches. These new printers feature a 320 GB hard drive, a high chroma magenta ink and Gigabit ethernet.

Delivering print speeds of up to 22 seconds,1 the devices' upgraded design enables quick, continuous printing by allowing users to replace the available high-capacity, 700ml ink tanks during print jobs without pausing production, helping to increase user productivity. Additionally, over time this new series of imagePROGRAF printers can assist high-volume offices in tracking and attaining significant cost savings.

For scan-to-print capabilities, each model is also available as a multi-function device. The imagePROGRAF iPF850/840/830 MFP M40 models are designed as complete scan-to-print, file, and share solutions, with the capability to scan documents up-to-two mm thick. The MFP model includes an M40 scanner, SmartWorks MFP software, a computer, touch screen monitor and MFP stand to help meet a variety of office needs.

"While still undergoing testing at BLI's test facility, the new Canon iPF830/840/850 have already shown themselves to be up to the same high standard we have come to expect from Canon, with outstanding productivity, very good image quality, impressive feature set and an easy to use design," said David Sweetnam, director of Lab and Research Services, Buyers Laboratory EMEA/Asia.

User-Friendly Software

Efficiency-enhancing features go beyond hardware with these new imagePROGRAF large format printers. The devices are available at no additional charge with PosterArtist Lite and Direct Print & Share cloud portal software2 which includes a shortcut feature for batch printing and allows files to be dragged and dropped into hot folders on the desktop. To help address the needs of a diverse range of users, the models are also compatible with the imagePROGRAF Print Utility app, allowing print jobs to be managed from mobile devices.3 Designed for versatility, the mobile app facilitates wireless printing4 from a compatible iPad® device. With royalty-free templates, backgrounds, clip art and fonts, Canon's PosterArtist Lite provides users with the tools they need to easily create professional posters, signs and banners.

In addition to the Canon software, there are independent software vendors that have made their software compatible with these new imagePROGRAF printers. These companies are Onyx Graphics, SA International (SAi), System Development Inc. (SDI) and CADLinkTechnology Corporation. Onyx Graphics, a Canon Group Company, is dedicated to helping customers increase productivity, reduce costs, and gain a competitive edge with superior print and color quality.
